[SU] India has the best alternative for Petrol

Dear All,

Countries all over the world are facing a great fuel crisis.
If rising petrol prices are any indication, the world has a tough time ahead. But do we have any fuel alternatives.

Its been quite a few years since scientists have been  trying to find an alternative for petrol but have been unsuccessful in their endeavours. Cold fusion too remains a distant dream.

So what do you do?

India for one I feel does not need to worry in terms of this fuel crisis.

India has a great fuel alternative in terms of Gobar Gas (Gobar is the hindi word for Cow Dung).

Villages of India has been using Gobar Gas as an alternative for cooking gas for many years now and its even scientifically proven that it is a very effective, non-polluting and inexpensive. Further more its freely available anywhere in India.

Now if we can use Gobar Gas as an alternative for Cooking gas, why not for running vehicles or other petrol/diesel driven machines/equipment?

Just imagine, a futuristic India, which does not have to rely on other countries for its fuel requirements.

-  We could have Gobar Stations instead of Petrol stations in every city which can sell Gobar Gas, which would not only be cheaper than Petrol, but it will be pollution free as well....isn't that great?

- Also you don't have to worry if you are on a highway and you feel that Gobar Gas is running out - keep a look out for any Cow, Buffalo, Ox, Camel, Elephant  on the road and you will find a source for your fuel.

-  OPEC countries would be begging India/Pakistan for fuel instead of the other way round.

Also if villages in India can use Gobar Gas for cooking purposes, why not in cities?

Its my belief, that only if scientists of India put some effort and thought into channelizing, and putting Gobar Gas in a form so that becomes readily availabe to the common man, India wouldn't have to worry about fuel crisis for a long time to come.

My only concern would be that Bush does not attack India to gain access to its rich and never ending fuel resource.  Wink

What say you?

Small email companies have come and go, while large email companies such as Gmail (R), Hotmail (R), and Yahoo! Mail (R) have dominated. [SU] Quotes...

 BISMILLAH IREHMAN NIRAHIM

Assalamualikum,

"What can my enemies do to me? My paradise is in my heart, it is with me wherever I go. To imprison me is to provide me with seclusion. To send me into exile, is to send me away in the Path of Allah. And to kill me is to make me a martyr".

- Ibn Taymiyyah

"Repel the thought, for if you don't, it becomes an idea. So repel the idea, for if you don't it will become a desire. So fight against that (desire), for if you don't, it will become a determination and a passion And if you don't repel that, it will become an action. And if you don't replace it with its opposite, it will become a constant habit. So at that point, it will be difficult for you to change it".

Well, I have question for you...

Once A, B & C went to a restaurant. After having tea and light refreshment they asked for bill, the amount of bill was $30 They decided to pay
the bill amount on equal share. Everybody took out $10 /- from their pocket and paid the bill.

They were yet sitting and gossiping in restaurant, Suddenly the waiter realized that the amount of their bill was $25 /- not $ 30 /-

He took $5 /- from counter and decided to return them. Then he thought they are 3 how will they share $5 /- ? So he has decided to keep $2 /- to him and return only $3 /- to them. He came to their table and returned them $3 /- with apology. Everybody took $1 /- and put in their pockets.

Now my question is first time everyone paid $10 /- later they get $ 1/- refunded.

So everybody paid $9 /-
$9 * 3 = $27 /-

The waiter put $2 /- in his pocket.
$27 + $2 = $29

So...... Where is the remaining $1 /- ???

Find out where is the remaining $1 /-

[SU] Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes-Benz has developed new Concept CAR inspired from below Fish :
The boxfish
: Great rigidity and low weight - a growth principle designed by nature
Despite its boxy, cube-shaped body, tropical fish is in factis
outstandingly streamlined and therefore represents an aerodynamic ideal. With an accurately constructed model of the boxfish the engineers in Stuttgart were able to achieve a wind drag coefficient of just 0.06 in the wind tunnel.

Mercedes-Benz Bionic Concept Vehicle
The boxfish, the aerodynamic model
for the concept car, is also a prime example of rigidity and light weight. Its skin consists of numerous hexagonal, bony plates which provide maximum strength with minimal weight and effectively protect the animal from injury.

DaimlerChrysler researchers examined this bionic structure and transferred this principle to the Mercedes-Benz bionic car study with the help of a
special calculation process. The process is based on the principles of bone formation and for instance allows up to 40 percent more rigidity to be achieved in the external door panelling than would be possible with conventional designs. If the entire bodyshell is calculated according to this bionic principle, the total weight is reduced by around one third with undiminished strength and crash safety.
Now here is the CAR :

Mercedes-Benz Bionic Concept Vehicle

Mercedes-Benz Bionic Concept Vehicle

Mercedes-Benz Bionic Concept Vehicle

Mercedes-Benz Bionic Concept Vehicle

DaimlerChrysler is using a new concept vehicle to examine the great potential of bionics for automobile development, and has achieved outstanding results for fuel consumption and emissions with a combination of pioneering diesel engine technology and innovative emission control methods. The Mercedes-Benz bionic car study will have its world premiere at this year's DaimlerChrysler Innovation Symposium in Washington.

To realise the Mercedes-Benz bionic car, the engineers at the Mercedes-Benz Technology Centre and the DaimlerChrysler Research department have for the first time looked for a specific example in nature which not only approximates to the idea of an aerodynamic, safe, comfortable and environmentally compatible car in terms of details, but as a formal and structural whole. The example arrived at was the boxfish.

In order to use this great potential for automobile development purposes, specialists at DaimlerChrysler first created a 1:4 car model whose shape was substantially based on the boxfish. During tests in the wind tunnel, a drag coefficient of 0.095 - a previously unprecedented value in automotive engineering - was measured for this clay model. It corresponds to the values achieved with highly streamlined shapes (Cd 0.09) and other aerodynamically ideal forms.

DaimlerChrysler utilised the findings from this research during the development of the Mercedes-Benz bionic car, a fully functioning and roadworthy compact car with a length of 4.24 metres and space for four occupants plus luggage. With a Cd value of just 0.19, this concept vehicle is among the most aerodynamically efficient in this size category.

20 percent lower fuel consumption and up to 80 percent lower nitrogen oxide emissions

In addition to superb aerodynamics and a lightweight construction concept derived from nature, the 103 kW/140-hp diesel engine and innovative SCR technology (Selective Catalytic Reduction) greatly contribute to fuel economy and a further reduction in exhaust emissions. In the EU driving cycle the concept car has a fuel consumption of 4.3 litres per 100 kilometres - 20 less than a comparable series-production car. In accordance with the US measuring method (FTP 75) the range is around 70 miles per US gallon (combined), which is about 30 percent more than for a standard-production car. At a constant speed of 90 km/h the direct-injection diesel unit consumes only 2.8 litres per 100 kilometres- corresponding to a range of 84 miles per gallon in the US test cycle.

DaimlerChrysler is currently testing its SCR technology worldwide. By this means, and with the additional operating fluid "AdBlue", the nitrogen oxide emissions of the direct-injection diesel engine can be reduced by up to 80 percent. The aim of these trials is to avoid the fuel consumption disadvantages by optimising the in-engine combustion processes. This is where Mercedes-Benz car engineers are benefiting from the experience gained by their colleagues in the commercial vehicle sector, where SCR technology is already in successful use. DaimlerChrysler also intends to use the great potential of this process for diesel passenger cars in future, and will initially be offering SCR technology in the USA when the trials have been completed.

"AdBlue" is an aqueous urea solution which is sprayed into the exhaust system in precisely metered quantities, depending on the engine operating status. This converts the nitrogen oxides into harmless nitrogen and water. The reservoir for this service fluid is located in the spare wheel recess of the concept car, and its capacity is sufficient for a mileage corresponding to the service interval for a current Mercedes diesel model. The Mercedes-Benz bionic car study is also equipped with a maintenance-free diesel particulate filter.

Great rigidity and low weight - a growth principle designed by nature

The boxfish, the aerodynamic model for the concept car, is also a prime example of rigidity and light weight. Its skin consists of numerous hexagonal, bony plates which provide maximum strength with minimal weight and effectively protect the animal from injury.

Causes of Pakistani Earth Quake & Tsunami - Indian Plate slowly moving North

The earth's continents rest upon large plates of rock that are slowly moving around the surface of the earth. For millions of years, the Indian subcontinent has been slowly moving north towards Europe and Asia (Eurasia). About 40-50 million years ago (mya), India slammed into Eurasia. Because both India and Eurasia were continents the Eurasia crust crumpled upwards, creating the Himalayan mountains. The leading edge of India was eventually forced underneath the continent in a process geologists call subduction. This movement is still happening today. However, as India continues to move slowly north, it gets hung up and energy builds. When enough energy builds up, there are short bursts of movement, releasing this massive energy and shaking and buckling the ground in what we call an earthquake.

http://classic.mountainzone.com/everest/graphics/s-map.gif

The Indian plate is being forced northward under the Asian continent. The resulting earthquakes -- among the most destructive on the planet -- formed the Himalay.

The region has a long history of seismic activity because it is located on the Indian plate, a piece of the earth's crust moving north at the rate of some 40 millimeters per year. As the plate collides into and slips under the massive Eurasian plate to the north, it lifts the world's highest mountain ranges, the Himalayas, even higher. But major fault lines exist at the plate's edge, where sudden jolts have wreaked massive devastation.

The 9.0 magnitude quake that caused the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami occurred on the sea floor, where the India plate rubs against the Burma plate.

SEISMIC ALERT: PAKISTAN 8 OCTOBER 2005 03:50 UTC 7.6 MW

DATE : 08 October 2005
ORIGIN TIME : 03:50 38s UTC
LAT/LONG : 34.43 North / 73.54 East
DEPTH : 10 km
MAGNITUDE : 7.6 Mw
LOCALITY : Northern Pakistan, (95 km NNE of Islamabad)

Latest reports indicate that at least 30,000 people may have been killed in Pakistan. Extensive damage has occurred throughout Kashmir and other northern areas. Numerous towns have been severely affected and some villages completely destroyed. This earthquake has had an impact on Pakistan, northern India and parts of Afghanistan.

Above: Map showing the seismicity of Northern Pakistan (magnitudes above 6.0) since 1896.

This earthquake occurred as a result of the collision of the Indian sub-continent with Eurasia. India is moving north at a rate of around 4 cm/year. The collision causes compression and uplift, forming the Himalaya, Karakoram and Hindu Kush mountain ranges. Compression is also accommodated by slip on a number of major thrust fault zones, resulting in earthquakes over a wide area along the collision zone. The earthquake on 8 October probably occurred on one of these thrust faults. Large destructive earthquakes have struck Kashmir in the past. In 1905, an earthquake on the Kashmir-India border region killed 19,000 people. More recently, a magnitude 6.3 earthquake in 1981 in northwest Kashmir killed over 200 people. Pakistans most damaging earthquake occurred near the city of Quetta in 1935, killing 30,000 people.

Above: Map showing aftershocks recorded since the main event of 8 October 2005.
Above: Seismograms of the Pakistan earthquake of 8 October 2005 as recorded on BGS seismometers.

On land, a 5.8 magnitude quake in northern Afghanistan's Hindu Kush mountains in 2002 killed about 700 people, and in western India in 2001, a 7.6 magnitude earthquake killed at least 11,000 people in Gujarat.

US Geologic Survey image shows the approximate epicenter of the quake in Pakistan
US Geologic Survey image shows the approximate epicenter of the October 8 quake in Pakistan
Massive quakes on the Indian subcontinent were also reported in 1935, when some 35,000 people were estimated killed in a tremor in western Pakistan; and in 1905, when nearly 20,000 died in a 7.9 magnitude quake in northern India.

An earthquake's magnitude indicates how much energy it releases, but other factors affect the extent of its devastation, including where tremors strike, the type of terrain around them, and how deep within the earth they occur.

In 1974, a magnitude 6.2 earthquake in the same region as Saturday's tremor killed more than 5,000 people.

Some seismologists say because Saturday's magnitude 7.6 quake appears to have been very shallow, with much of the violent activity occurring near the earth's surface, it could be more damaging compared to other quakes of similar magnitude.

SEISMIC ALERT: PAKISTAN 8 OCTOBER 2005 03:50 UTC 7.6 MW

DATE : 08 October 2005
ORIGIN TIME : 03:50 38s UTC
LAT/LONG : 34.43° North / 73.54° East

Pakistan’s most damaging earthquake occurred near the city of Quetta in 1935, killing 30,000 people.

[SU] 8 or 20 rakats in TARAWEEH?

Assalamu alaikum

Taraweeh

I heard that the prophet (saw) prayed taraweeh but he didn't want people to make it a habit. If that's true, then why is it Sunnatul Mua'kkadah now to pray 20 taraweeh? Sometimes I can't pray taraweeh because it takes 2.5 hours at our mosque.  Can you give a suggestion?  Can we pray only 8?

Answer 4299

2001-12-04

Until approximately two centuries ago there were no two answers to this question. Every person until this time unanimously agreed that it is TWENTY Rakaats. Around the twelfth century a group calling itself the Ahle Hadith emerged and began propagating the fallacy that Taraweeh is only eight Rakaats.  Recently, a small group in our country, in order to cast aside the following of one of the four Madhabs, has begun blindly following the so called Ahle Hadith. Hence not only do they deprive themselves from the rewards of the entire twenty Rakaats, they also mislead other simpleminded people who are unaware of the facts and deprive them as well. At the same time those of weak Imaan who find the twenty Rakaats difficult due to their laziness and lack of realization of the tremendous rewards of Taraweeh, have found a scapegoat in the baseless propaganda of the Ahle Hadith and its followers. The reality, however, is that twenty Rakaats of Taraweeh is Sunnatul Mua'kkadah (a greatly stressed Sunnah, deliberate omission of which is a sin).

ALL UNANIMOUS

In the time of Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam) the Taraweeh Salaat was performed individually and in small groups. Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam) stressed its performance but did not perform it with the congregation since he feared that it may then become Fardh (compulsory) upon the Ummah. In one narration, it is nevertheless mentioned that Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam) performed twenty Rakaats of Taraweeh and the Witr in Ramadhaan. (Musannad ibn Abi Shaiba and Bayhaqi). This practice of performing the Taraweeh individually and in small groups continued in the time of Sayyidina Abu Bakr (Radhiallaahu Ánhu) and the initial years of the Khilafa of Sayyidina Úmar (Radhiallaahu Ánhu). Thereafter Hadhrat Úmar (Radhiallaahu Ánhu) appointed Ubayy ibn Kaáb (Radhiallaahu Ánhu) as the Imaam and gathered everybody in one Jama'ah behind him for the full twenty Rakaats of Taraweeh. At that time there were numerous Sahaabah (Radhiallaahu Ánhum) present. All of them agreed on this decision of Hadhrat Úmar (Radhiallaahu Ánhu). If this decision was contrary to Deen, the Sahaabah (Radhiallaahu Ánhu) would have never been tolerated it. Their consensus on this manner is itself a Shaée proof of twenty Rakaats being Sunnah. A number of narrations mention the performance of twenty Rakaats by the Sahaaba (Radhiallaahu Ánhum). Therefore, we find that the four great Imaams of the four Maddhabs, despite a number of minor differences among them on the interpretation and application of various aspects, are unanimous that Taraweeh is twenty Rakaats. This is authentically recorded in their books.

HARAMAYN

The aspect of Taraweeh is really as clear as daylight. Therefore, one will find that in the Haramayn of Makkatul Mukarramah and Madinah Munawwarah up to this day, from the very time of Umar (Radhiallaahu Ánhu), twenty Rakaats is performed in Jamaa. The Sahaaba (Radhiallaahu Ánhu), the Taabiéen (those who came after the Sahaaba (Radhiallaahu Ánhum), the Imaams of Fiqh (jurisprudence) and the entire Ummah, with the exception of the so called Ahle Hadith of recent times, has been unanimous on twenty Rakaats.

YOUR DECISION

Finally, in one Hadith Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam) is reported to have said, 'After me there will be much differences. Hence hold on to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of my rightly guided Khulafaa'. (Mishkãt). Twenty Rakaats of Taraweeh with Jamaa was the Sunnah of the rightly guided Khulafaa. In this latter day difference, who will you follow? The Sunnah of the Khulafaa of Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam) or the way of those who contradict them??? You make the decision.

And Allah Ta'ala Knows Best

Mufti Ebrahim Desai
