[SU] Look at a picture in another way
| Strange Pictures |
| These types of optical illusions are my personal favourite. You look at a picture one way and see an image but when you look at it in another way the picture is completely different. Get your eyes fixed on the pictures below. |
![]() |
| This illusion is an old favourite. Do you see faces or vases? |
![]() |
| Aflight of stairs on the floor or on the ceiling? |
![]() |
| How many feet just has this elephant got? |
![]() |
| Can you see an eskimo or a native Amercian Indian in this picture? |
![]() |
| Can you see the animal in this picture above? If you find it you'll see spots before your eyes. |
| At first these appear to be nothing but blocks of white, but they form a word. If you still can't see it move your mouse over the picture to reveal it. |
![]() |
| An old man or a couple kissing under an archway of ivy? |
![]() |
| Can you see the two faces in both pictures above? The first shows a young woman and an old woman while the second shows young man and an old man. |
![]() |
| This is similar to the picture above, only now there are 3 faces. Can you see them all? |
![]() |
| Most people see the head of a duck when they first look at this picture, but there is another creature hidding in the draw. Don't go hopping mad if you can't see it at first just look at it from a different angle. |
![]() |
| This picture features both animals that are shown in the previous illusion. Can you see them both? |
![]() |
| OK. To win £1000 - are there 3 or 4 shelves in this picture? Agh! |
![]() |
| Is this the face of a 'Liar?' (Look at the picture sidweays on.) |
![]() |
| A man playing the saxophone or a young woman? |
![]() |
| Do you see a donkey's head or a seal? |
| This way up the picture looks like a woman caught by a large bird, but turn it upside down (move your move over the picture) and it becomes a man in canoe with a whale! |
| Stare at the four dots in the centre of this picture for around 30 to 60 seconds. Keep your eyes in the same position then move your mouse over the picture immediately for a bit of divine inspiration. |
![]() |
![]() |
| Most people see a skull when they first look at this picture, but it is actually a picture of a couple sitting at a table. |

[SU] BENEFIT OF WALKING
Assalamualikum,
It is said that every person has two doctors with him... his right leg & his left leg. A vigorous 5 mile walk can do more good for an unhappy but otherwise healthy man than any medicine or psychology. it is the easiest exercise for most individuals, one that can done without equipment except good shoes, in most terrains & weather & also in very old age.
What we are talking about is not just walking but brisk walking. Here are the benefits of the same--
Why walking ?--
Walking is the most natural exercise known to man.
Besides this, here are the other benefits of walking---
1 ) Walking improves circulation--
Calf muscles are man's second heart. On walking, these muscles pump the blood to the heart with all force. This leads to greater heart exercise, increased oxygen requirement & better blood circulation.
2) Walking is good for the heart--
The increased oxygen requirements lead to exercise for the heart. On a long term basis, it leads to a better circulation for the heart. Thus it reduces the chances of a heart attack.
2 ) Walking cuts fatigue--
Once daily brisk walking has become a habit, you start reaping the benefits.
Soon there is no need of any laxatives.
No more low back ache.
No more of that catch while bending.
Above all, in shape body is not easily fatigued.
3 ) Walking improves the posture.
4 ) Psychological benefits --
Many studies have shown enormous psychological benefits of walking. It has been shown that daily walking habit reduces anxiety, tension & improves mood.
What is "brisk walking"?
It has been shown that what works best is not walking but "brisk walking". Scientifically, it correlates with the pulse rate that you should achieve for the maximum benefit. However, simply speaking, brisk walking means : a level that's not just strolling; but not out pf breath either.
How many minutes a day should one walk briskly?
No study has established the exact time for the maximum benefit. However 45minutes to 1 hour is a good guide.
You can even incorporate it in your daily life style. That way you will automatically walk briskly to the office & for that matter anywhere. A short brisk walk is is worth two miles of ambling. That way you will easily get minimal amount of good exercise every day. And, as striding becomes a habit, you will soon get more exercise, willingly.
Allah Hafiz .

[SwF] Egypt VOTE: Runoffs.Vote Buying, Bus loading, Intrusive Police
![]() |
| A supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood was injured after attacks by NDP hooligans. |
CAIRO, November 15, 2005 (IslamOnline.net & News Agencies) Egypt's election runoffs witnessed vote buying, voters' bus loading, illegal collective registration, intimidation and intervention of policemen, an element that was unprecedentedly absent in Wednesday's first round of election.
"Observers are reporting a disturbing escalation of violence throughout polling places in Egypt," the Independent Committee for Election Monitoring said in a statement on Tuesday, November 15.
Seventeen people were wounded in violence between supporters of rival candidates involved in runoffs for the first phase of Egypt's parliamentary elections, the official Middle East News Agency (MENA) said.
Fifteen people were wounded in the Beni Sueif governorate south of Cairo, and scores were in a serious condition.
Within two month of the presidential elections that ushered veteran President Hosni Mubarak in a fifth-six year term last September, and less than six month of the constitutional amendments, the most populous Arab country has seen its one-month long parliamentary election in front of the backdrop of calls for political and economic reform led by the US.
Irregularities
![]() |
| Supporters of an NDP candidate in a Cairo's district were busloaded from other Delta areas. |
Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) were allowed by a court ruling to monitor the current legislative election contrary to an earlier decision by the election committee that banned them from entering polling stations.
The NGOs reported a number of violations in the eight Egyptian governorates ranging between intimidation to clashes.
A woman was shot and injured near a polling station in Old Cairo, according to hospital sources.
In Beni Suef, a group led by the NDP candidate beat Muslim Brotherhood supporters with wooden clubs, it said. In Giza, several people were injured in stabbings and beatings, according to Agence France-Presse (AFP).
The independent Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) said in its report: "It (the violence) went as far as assaulting voters because they did not give their votes to the NDP candidate and assaults on the EOHR observers."
"In Atfih, (south of Cairo) supporters of the NDP candidate threw stones and fired shots at the EOHR observer to try to stop him entering the polling station," it said. Atfih is on the Nile south of Cairo.
The Brotherhood complained of many violations, including last-minute additions to the electoral register and steps to prevent its supporters from voting in some areas.
In Nasr City in northeast Cairo, where the contest is fierce between female Brotherhood candidate Makarim Eldardiri and NDP businessman Mustafa El-Sallab, Sallab's organizers brought 12 busloads of potential voters to one polling station.
One of the passengers, Ayman Ahmed Abdel Ghani, told Reuters that he and 5,800 other employees of state-owned Arab Contractors were brought to the constituency to vote for Sallab after the company registered them en masse there.
Banned but tolerated Muslim Brotherhood, a main contestant in the current elctions, has spoken out of vote rigging.
"There were many irregularities and it will lead to rigged results," said the Leader of the group, Mohammed Mahdi Akef, after casting his ballot in the Cairo district of Heliopolis.
In Helwan, south Cairo, the NDP candidate and Minister of State for Military Production Sayed Mashal offered employees in the ministry factories three months' salary for casting their votes in favor of the minister, according to Reuters.

[SwF] Amity with Israel opens WTO door
Amity with Israel opens WTO door
By John Zarocostas - THE WASHINGTON TIMES - November 12, 2005
http://washingtontimes.com/world/20051112-123734-4633r.htm
GENEVA -- Saudi Arabia has agreed to end all economic boycotts of Israel, allowing the World Trade Organization (WTO) yesterday to admit the oil-rich kingdom as its 149th member, diplomats said.
Saudi officials did not comment on the Israel boycott, which had been the key obstacle during the kingdom's 12-year bid to gain entry. U.S. and Israeli officials said the boycott issue had been resolved.
"I am very satisfied with the fact that Saudi Arabia has complied with all the rules of the WTO," said Itzhak Levanon, Israel's ambassador to the global trade body.
"I hope it opens the door to a better future on the horizon in the region," the Israeli envoy said. The WTO's ruling general council, which includes the United States and Israel, endorsed the Saudi entry during a special session yesterday.
The kingdom's minister for commerce and industry, Hashim Yamani, signed the protocol of accession, which means that Saudi Arabia will become a full member on Dec. 11, just days before a big WTO meeting in Hong Kong. Mr. Yamani told delegates that the "door has been opened for one of the largest free-market economies to become a member.
To join, Saudi Arabia agreed to scrap all economic boycotts and it pledged not to resort to any future discriminatory trade measures against the Jewish state, diplomats said.
Restrictions on foreign investment in banking, insurance, telecommunications and other service industries had also been an obstacle. The Saudi protocol will allow foreign ownership of up to 60 percent for banking and insurance, and up to 70 percent for telecommunications. Pascal Lamy, WTO director-general, said in the accession process Saudi Arabia "undertook important economic reforms, which it is fair to say have touched virtually all sectors of its economy."
Saad Alfarargi, ambassador of the 22-member Arab League, said that Saudi Arabia's membership will benefit world trade. "Saudi Arabia has its own weight, economically, commercially, and WTO membership will allow for more investments and employment," Mr. Alfarargi told The Washington Times.
John Weekes, a former Canadian chief trade negotiator and WTO ambassador, called Saudi Arabia's entry a major development for economies in the region. "It's clear, more and more -- as witnessed with China's entry in 2001 -- that WTO membership and economic reforms go hand in hand," Mr. Weekes said. He said that the completion of the Saudi-WTO entry talks "shows that those in the kingdom who want to promote modernization have prevailed."
WTO entry also signifies a major political victory for King Abdullah, who for years as crown prince championed a reform agenda for his kingdom of 26 million, diplomats said. Saudi Arabia, the world's largest oil producer, was the world's 19th- largest exporter in 2004 with trade shipments worth $126.2 billion.

[SwF] Islam Changed My Whole Life: Cricketer
![]() |
| "For me it's a new start to life," said Yusuf. |
MULTAN, Pakistan, November 13, 2005 (IslamOnline.net & News Agencies) - When Pakistan's Mohammad Yusuf returns to international cricket in the first Test against England this week, it will be with a new name and a new religion.
The cricketer formerly known as Yusuf Youhana reverted from Christianity to Islam in August, joining prayers with team-mates including his captain Inzamam-ul Haq.
"For me it's a new start to life. Embracing Islam has changed my whole life," Yusuf, 31, told AFP ahead of Pakistan's first Test against England that started in Multan on Saturday, November 12.
Yusuf, previously the only Christian in the team, surprised many observers by his reversion.
It leaves spinner Danish Kaneria, a Hindu, as the only non-Muslim in the team.
The switch also caused problems with his family, including his mother, who threatened to set herself on fire.
"Naturally it was big news for them and they were hurt. I hope things will improve," said Yusuf, who now lives separately from his family in the eastern city of Lahore.
No Compulsion
Yusuf said he had never faced any problems in the team or with the fans -- either as a Christian in 97 percent Muslim Pakistan -- or now as a Muslim.
"I never faced any problems before and hope things will continue to remain good for me. On the field I look for more runs and off it I want to be a good Muslim," he said.
The only issue now is how he will be listed in the international cricketing annals, where changes of name are all but unheard of.
"Our policy at Wisden is that the player's wishes should be paramount, but that we cannot go back and change a player's name in retrospect," said a spokesman for the cricket's Wisden Almanack, the best known reference book concerned with the sport.
"So for the upcoming Pakistan v England Tests, he'll be Mohammad Yusuf. But for all games played before his conversion, he'll remain Yusuf Youhana," said the spokesman.
Yusuf's change in name caps a dramatic rags to riches tale.
Brought up in a poor family which lived in a one-room house in Lahore's teeming old city, Yusuf almost started a career with a local tailor before destiny pointed him towards cricket.
He started playing in Bail Hatha, a Christian-dominated area and low-income settlement close to Lahore railway station, and was first spotted by former Test cricketer Azhar Khan.
"I first saw Yusuf play in a local match and realized that this was a boy who could go places. He has traveled a good distance in his career since then," said Khan.
Before making his presence felt at domestic level, Yusuf was picked to play a warm-up match against England in Sharjah, the United Arab Emirates, in 1997.
His half century did not make any headlines but his technique and approach to batting caught the eyes of the selectors, who picked him for Pakistan's tour to South Africa and Zimbabwe a year later.
Ever since Yusuf has played 59 Tests for Pakistan scoring 4,272, besides accumulating 6761 runs in 202 one-day internationals and has become one of his team's most reliable batsmen.

[SU] Reward for fasting the WHOLE YEAR
Whoever fasts these six days will have recorded for him a reward as if he had fasted a whole year...
Compiled from www.islamqa.com
Shawwaal is the Islamic month that is immediately after Ramadaan, the first day being Eid al-Fitr.
The virtue of fasting six days of Shawwaal
What is the ruling on fasting six days of Shawwaal? Is it waajib (obligatory)?
Praise be to Allaah.
Fasting six days of Shawwaal after the obligatory fast of Ramadaan is Sunnah Mustahabbah, not waajib. It is recommended for the Muslim to fast six days of Shawwaal, and in this there is great virtue and an immense reward. Whoever fasts these six days will have recorded for him a reward as if he had fasted a whole year, as was reported in a saheeh hadeeth from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). Abu Ayyoob (may Allaah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: Whoever fasts Ramadaan and follows it with six days of Shawwaal, it will be as if he fasted for a lifetime. (Narrated by Muslim, Abu Dawood, al-Tirmidhi, al-Nisaai and Ibn Maajah).
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) explained this when he said: Whoever fasts for six days after (Eid) al-Fitr has completed the year: (whoever does a good deed (hasanah) will have ten hasanah like it). According to another report: Allaah has made for each hasanah ten like it, so a month is like fasting ten months, and fasting six days completes the year. (al-Nisaai and Ibn Maajah. See also Saheeh al-Targheeb wal-Tarheeb, 1/421). It was also narrated by Ibn Khuzaymah with the wording: Fasting for the month of Ramadaan brings the reward of ten like it, and fasting for six days brings the reward of two months, and that is the fasting of the whole year.
The Hanbali and Shaafai fuqaha explained that fasting six days of Shawwaal after fasting Ramadaan makes it as if one has fasted for an entire year of obligatory fasts, because the multiplication of the reward applies even to naafil fasts, because each hasanah brings the reward of ten like it.
Another of the important benefits of fasting six days of Shawwaal is that is makes up for any shortfall in a person's obligatory Ramadaan fasts, because no one is free of shortcomings or sins that have a negative effect on his fasting. On the Day of Resurrection, some of his naafil deeds will be taken to make up the shortcomings in his obligatory deeds, as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: The first thing for which people will be brought to account on the Day of Resurrection will be their salaah (prayer). Our Lord, may He be glorified and exalted, will say to His angels although He knows best Look at the salaah of My slave, whether it is complete or incomplete. If it is perfect, it will be recorded as perfect, and if something is lacking, He will say, Look and see whether My slave did any voluntary (naafil) prayers. If he did some voluntary prayers, [Allaah] will say, Complete the obligatory actions of My slave from his voluntary actions. Then all his actions will be dealt with in a similar manner. (Narrated by Abu Dawood).
And Allaah knows best.
(Question Reference #: 7859 Posted on 09.01.2000)
When should a Muslim start fasting six days of Shawwaal?
When can I start fasting six days of Shawwal, since we have annual leave right now?
Praise be to Allaah.
You can start fasting six days of Shawwaal from the second day of Shawwaal, because it is haraam to fast on the day of Eid. You can fast the six days at any time during Shawwaal, although the best of good deeds are those which are done soonest.
The standing committee received the following question:
Should fasting the six days be done immediately after Ramadaan, following the day of Eid or is it permissible to do it a few days after Eid in the month of Shawwaal or not?
They replied as follows:
These days do not have to be fasted immediately after Eid al-Fitr; it is permissible to start fasting them one or more days after Eid, and they may be done consecutively or separately during the month of Shawwaal, according to what is easier for a person. There is plenty of room for manoeuvre in this matter, and this is not obligatory, it is Sunnah.
And Allaah is the Source of strength. May Allaah bless our Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions and grant them peace.
Fataawa al-Lajnah al-Daaimah, 10/391
(Question Reference #: 7860 Posted on 11.01.2000)
Do the six days of Shawwaal have to be fasted consecutively?
With regard to the six days of Shawwal after Ramadaan, is it a condition that they should be fasted consecutively, or can I separate them? I want to fast them in three sessions, on the two days of the weekend.
Praise be to Allaah.
It is not a necessary condition that they should be fasted consecutively. If you fast them separately or consecutively, it is OK. The sooner you do them, the better, because Allaah says (interpretation of the meanings):
so compete in good deeds [al-Maaidah 5:48]
And march forth in the way (which leads to) forgiveness from your Lord [Aal Imran 3:133]
[Moosa peace be upon him said:] and I hastened to You, O my Lord, that You might be pleased [Ta-Ha 20:84]
And (you should hasten to fast these six days) because delaying may cause problems. This is the view of the Shaafais and some of the Hanbalis, but it is OK if you do not hasten it and you delay it until the middle or end of the month.
Al-Nawawi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:
Our companions said: it is mustahabb to fast six days of Shawwaal. Because of this hadeeth they said: it is mustahabb to fast these days consecutively at the beginning of Shawwaal, but if one separates them or delays them until after Shawwaal, this is permissible, because he will still be following the general guidelines of the hadeeth. We have no dispute regarding this matter, and this was also the view of Ahmad and Dawood.
Al-Majmoo Sharh al-Muhadhdhab
(Question Reference #: 7858 Posted on 11.01.2000)
Can a person start fasting six days of Shawwaal when he still has days to make up from Ramadaan?
If a person fasts six days of Shawwaal after Ramadaan when he has not yet completed the Ramadaan fast because he did not fast ten days of Ramadaan for a legitimate reason will he have the same reward as a person who fasted all of Ramadaan and followed it with six days of Shawwaal, i.e. will he be like a person who fasted for a lifetime? Please explain to us, may Allaah reward you with good.
Praise be to Allaah.
The precise rewards for the deeds which people do for the sake of Allaah is something which is known only to Allaah. If a person seeks the reward from Allaah and strives to obey Him, his reward will not be lost, as Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
We shall not make the reward of anyone who does his (righteous) deeds in the most perfect manner to be lost. [al-Kahf 18:30].
If someone has missed some of the days of Ramadaan, he should fast them first, then fast six days of Shawwaal, because he cannot follow the fast of Ramadaan with six days of Shawwaal unless he has completed his Ramadaan fast.
And Allaah is the source of strength. May Allaah bless our Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions, and grant them peace.
Fataawa al-Lajnah al-Daaimah, 10/392
(Question Reference #: 7863 Posted on 12.01.2000)
Does one have to fast six days of Shawwaal every year?
If someone fasts six days of Shawwaal, then one year he gets sick or something prevents him from fasting, or he is too lazy to fast, will there be any sin on him? We have heard that if a person fasts these six days one year, he must never give up this practice thereafter.
Praise be to Allaah.
Fasting six days of Shawwaal after the day of Eid is Sunnah. It is not waajib (obligatory) on the person who does this once or more often to continue doing it. He is not guilty of a sin if he does not fast these days.
And Allaah is the Source of strength. May Allaah bless our Prophet Muhammad and grant him peace.

Subject: Donations required for medicine
Most of you might know that a relief camp has been setup at Pakistan
Sports Complex. Although CDA says it has set it up it is basically
run on personal basis by a lady which is why it is called 'Bali
Camp'.
They are having shortage of some medicines and urgently require
them. I committed to arranging some of medicines/injections they
require. If any of you would like to donate any amount towards this
cause, does not necessarily be a large one, even an amount like two
hundred rupees (which is what one injections costs) will make a
difference.
You can give the donations to me. My cell number is 03008500808 and
office address is siemens office, 4th floor, jang building (the last
building of blue area near parliment lodges). Anytime this week or
next week would be great.
